Mortgage broker fined £100,000
A London mortgage broker has been fined £100,000 and banned from operating after submitting false mortgage applications.
Omotayo Fawole of Oasis Mortgage and Financial Services in Woolwich, was found to have obtained a mortgage after submitting an application which significantly overstated the profits of his firm and his own income.
He also submitted a mortgage application for an Oasis employee which significantly overstated earnings.
The Financial Services Authority (FSA) said the level of the fine was aimed at acting as a deterrent to others from becoming involved in mortgage fraud.
This year alone 17 other mortgage brokers have been banned by the FSA for involvement in submitting false mortgage applications.

Anti social tenant evicted from flat
A tenant who carried out a series of acts of anti-social behaviour causing disturbances to his neighbours has been evicted from his flat by a Housing Authority.
The incidents included use of foul language; urinating in communal areas, drunken behaviour, indecently exposing himself and indecent acts in public.
Selwood Housing took action against Simon Burnley, aged 33, who moved into Haynes Road, Westbury in Wiltshire in January this year on a 12-month starter tenancy.
