Another property company set up by Grant Bovey is being wound up after only a few months of trading according to recent national newspaper reports.
Bovey, who is the husband of television presenter Anthea Turner, hit the headlines last year when his buy to let business, Imagine Homes, collapsed with more than £50m worth of debts.
Before the collapse he told business and property journalists that he would sue anybody who suggested that Imagine Homes group was in financial trouble.
Many of the investors who lost money through this company were reported to be angered that Bovey had set up his new venture, the Distressed Property Company, so soon after the collapse of his former business.
During the launch of the new company Bovey was quoted as saying ‘The only thing I will guarantee you is that this company will never have financial difficulty.’
Following the recent winding up of the new company a spokesman said that there were no debts.
But with the ink barely dry on the latest winding up proceedings at Companies House, Bovey intimated that he has plans for yet another property business.
The Distressed Property Company was set up by Bovey and co-director, Neil Barnett, who also worked in the Imagine Homes group as finance director. The duo planned to market properties worth up to £1m by identifying developers and banks who needed to sell properties quickly for whatever reason.
However Bovey and Barnett said the company proved not to be viable because of the continuing property market slump.
After the collapse of Bovey’s original buy to let business it was widely reported that he and Turner had been forced to sell their £11.5m property.
